Welcome to the big Finish
The 2018 hill climb season comes to its conclusion at Loton Park this weekend and things couldn’t be more finely balanced with everything to fight for in the British, the Leaders and Midlands Championships.
Current MSA British Hillclimb Champion, Trevor Willis, retains a slender lead at the top on 233 points but in second-place, Will Hall has hit phenomenal form during the last few meetings, including securing both run-offs at Doune last weekend and he is now in Trevor’s slip-stream with 226 points. To spice things up further, competition will also be keen for the other coveted top-10 numbers so expect some top-notch track action.
With the Midlands Championship, also remaining in the balance, there will be spirited driving throughout the entire weekend. Robert Kenrick has already chopped lumps off his class record and he has even shouldered his way into several top-12 run-offs so keep an eye on the insanely rapid Raptor. Robert is also top of the MSA Leaders Championship by just a 2-point margin from Andrew Griffiths.
If all that wasn’t enough, this will also be the final opportunity for a number of this weekend’s drivers to tweak and fettle their cars before heading off to Italy to compete in the European bi-annual FIA Hill Climb Masters in Gubbio, Umbria which takes place on October 12th – 14th.
Enjoy your day at Loton Park: explore the top of the hill, try out the numerous vantage points and spend time roaming the paddock, taking in the up-close-and- personal atmosphere of a British, Leaders and Midlands event.
We look forward to seeing you all next season. Keep an eye on the club website for the 2019 fixtures when they are announced.
